Filters

A filter's job is to keep dust and dirt off of your equipment. It also helps keep dust from recirculating through your home's air stream.

Keeping your filter changed helps keep your utility bills lower and helps your equipment last longer.

Most homes have a standard 1" wide filter. The more surface area the filter has, the better. That's why we recommend a pleated filter. If you hold a mesh filter up to the light, you can see straight through it. It is not very efficient for catching small particles.

If you have a hard time getting to your filter, or just can't seem to remember to change it, maybe you should consider a 5" media filter. A 5" filter only needs changing once or twice a year. It is more efficient at catching small particles.
