GEOTHERMAL HEAT PUMPS
A Geothermal Heat Pump does not create heat by burning fuel. Instead, it uses the constant temperature of the earth as the source for transferring heat through a series of pipes, called a loop. The loop is installed either in a vertical or horizonal position below the surface of the ground, or it can be submersed in a pond or lake. Water circulates through the loop, gathering heat from the earth and carrying it to the house. Then an electrical compressor and a heat exchanger concentrate the heat from the earth and release it inside the home through the ductwork.
The US Dept. of Energy reports: "The biggest benefit of GHPs (Geothermal-heat-pumps) is that they use 25%–50% less electricity than conventional heating or cooling systems... geothermal heat pumps can reduce energy consumption—and corresponding emissions—up to 44% compared to air-source heat pumps and up to 72% compared to electric resistance heating with standard air-conditioning equipment."

The Aquarius II Series is manufactured by Florida Heat Pump, a division of Bosch. It is the highest efficiency series of geothermal units available on the market today. It features a state of the art two stage unloading scroll compressor which, when controlled by a multistage thermostat, stages the unit to match the demand for heating and cooling. The result, up to 70% lower energy bills, increased comfort and better humidity control.
